12/1/18 Soaring, a bit of everything

A nice soaring day for December, wave, rotor thermals, and cloud streets. All working but had to work for it. I couldnt get past snow mountain and stayed south of there. Thomas Greenhill found the path north and eventually made Diamond M. Russ also flew, later joined by Pete and Ray.

Beautiful scenery (but cold) A couple pics of the day:

    Thank you for posting Jim.
    Nice photo.

I should have been watching the wx fcst a bit more, instead of other things. I didn't know anyone was planning on flying. Was everyone just watching the RASP forecast or what??????

I see Thomas posted to OLC - nice getting up to over 4,000 meters/ over 13,000

The Williams rasp was right on the forecast. Wave potential showed earlier in the week on the Panoche rasp and GG weather.

Jim E2 and I had been discussing the wave forecast all week. I had a very similar experience to Jim except I had to lose altitude (Max about 11500 MSL) after two hours and return to base due to very cold feet. I had the toe warmer chemical heating pads in my pocket but waited too long to install them, so only M/C boots and heavy wool socks. Maybe next time I can fly with comfortable feet.

    Here a couple of photographs.

Just north of GoatSpass. Goat mtn. near left with Snow mtn. in the distance.
