    Soaring on 3/30

Key and I have been watching it since Wednesday. Saturday is forecast to be a good day on the Mendos.

    Re: Soaring on 3/30

    Friday night update.
I see seven other cross-country pilots on the schedule, but no one's posting about it, but I guess it is a another ho-hum day at WSC. Seems we take it all for granted anymore.

Strong north wind on the surface at WSC until 1300 hours, but a launch at noon is a reasonable plan. Easy flight up the Mendos, past Black Butte, but with the lift only up to 10 k over Yolla Peak.
Landing at 1630, the fcst is for less than a 10 knot north wind.

Might just as well post my Flight Plan intentions.

Tow to Tree Farm Release at 6,500.
Climb above Goat to 8,000 head for Snow Mtn
then cruise from Snow Mtn to Hull Mtn ( 5 north of Gravelly TP),
    Direct to Black Butte,
    Direct to Anthony,
Gentle curve to N to NW to Ruth,
Gentle curve N to NE to the ridge west of Hyampom,
    reverse course with
    Final Glide from St John,
arriving 2,000 ft overhead WSC in order to evaluate the landing winds.

Thomas D. I'll bring a copy of this with us, so you can follow the plan.

    Re: Soaring on 3/30

Good day. All seemed to have good flights.
Released before reaching Indian Ranch, but needed to use the engine to get on top of Goat.
Climbed above Goat to 8,000 headed for Snow Mtn
Went the usual route (over Sheet Iron) (didn't go to Hull Mtn)
    Went Direct to Black Butte,
    Direct to Anthony,
Gentle curve to N to NW to Ruth,
Reversed course at 3:15 PM - 7 miles short of Ruth

Had an easy glide to home.
