    Wave Alert: Sat Feb 1

Saturday looks to serve up a nice WSW wave day, and a civilized one (light ground winds all day, no rain, etc.), at that:

and I'm just now looking at the "Cloud Cover" RASP chart which I've never used before, which hints at lenticulars perhaps?

Someone has to fly this, I'll be there, but likely not fly due to the dinner talk. Data collectors, we need data collectors!

Re: Wave Alert: Sat Feb 1

Looks good enough to me, especially with Sunday looking even more dynamic with strong wave in the early morning, strong wind and strong thermals to 8K or so over the valley in the afternoon, promising an interesting day. Wind should be lighter Sunday morning.
I am planning to fly both days.

In my role as temporary on-site weather observer, these 5p lennies are encouraging for tmro:

Considering today's 5p Black Butte sounding shows light cloud at 20K or so (the black line on the upper left):

ID:	5547 Plus, Ben says he could see the Mt. Shasta lennie stack, but no pics 8^( . Skysight also shows pretty good mid-level cloud cover. I think it's going to be better than expected, at least from a markers standpoint. See you all here tmro!

I know Kempton’s enthusiasm is contagious, and in the end he is almost always right. but both rasp and skysight keep trending down on wave. The only indication of weak wave is now further north. But it is pre frontal, and there is the right amount of moisture, so I bet there will be some wave at least. I just can’t get enthusiastic as Kempton yet.

couple of pilots did contact wave today. Dennis - DL reported going to over 12 or 13,000.
Russ and I flew in the ASG32 - but did not contact any form of lift.
Nice day for a pleasant flight.
