    Thu/Fri Sep 17-18

A cutoff low may brush by Thu, clearing out the smoke ahead of time, resulting in a clear air valley day day Thu, and some ridge cu on Fri:

The south wind looks to be a bit strong, so need to watch the return to WSC.

Will watch this as it'd be nice to have a clear air, decently long XC flight before the season ends. Plus I need to try out my new SeeYou Navigator on my iPhone.....

    Definitely an encouraging wx forecast.

Hopefully, the fires on the Mendocinos will be in better control and the TFR covering the Mendocinos will shrink by the end of the week:

Pete, yes, that's why the Thu WX is interesting to do this Valley task to Davis, up to possibly N of Ravendale and return to avoid the Mendo TFRs.

I have to give it to Kempton. I can never come close to guess the tasks he has in mind...
looking at the bases, smoke, TFRs me thinking maybe we be lucky to get 300km flying in the valley around Williams. Which is still much better than most flights in our region the last month. But across the sierras to north of Ravendale And back would have never crossed my mind...

As of this morning's charts, the clouds have pretty much evaporated from the Thu & Fri forecasts. There may be some late Thu day wave, but it isn't consistent enough to be confident. Will check the forecast at end of day, but not looking so good for these days.

However, next week, Thu/Fri has possibilities for a W wind wave day, am tracking that....

Friday now looks to be a very nice post frontal day for the entire area south of the Mendo TFRs. Plus it should be clear and light winds, so a good mental health day:

ID:	586411a Cu, looks like you can launch at 10a!
I'll not be flying, but someone needs to use this day. Looks like you can go out to within a few miles of the coast too....

Indeed the forecast looking good for flights south of the TFR and west on Friday. If the smoke clears I plan to fly.

I plan to fly on Friday assuming the forecast holds and the smoke stays away...
