    WX ALERT: June 26 - July 4

This Fri & weekend look to have some great soaring due to the low off shore drawing desert hot air to the coast, along with tropical moisture. This is Saturday:

Looks to be a good day for a long task into Oregon. Could be a boomer!

Re: WX ALERT: June 26 - July 4

I changed the title of this thread as the extended outlook for both heating and moisture look good for the 8 day period of June 26 thru July 4.

The Fri June 26-Sun June 28 super weather is still tracking to align with the Cal model and a race day. How good could it be? Well, Klamath Falls is on track for a record heat weekend, with the Friday BLIPS showing almost 16K bases in that part of the state. In the Montague area the BLIPS and RASP are showing 14-15K bases or higher on Friday, with scattered cu. For Saturday I expect early cu on Goat/Snow, then OD to the W of Scott Valley, but bases in that area to be 14-15K, and most importantly more closely space cu (which go along with the OD). Saturday GFS:

Mon June 29 - Thu July 2 look very warm with good cu on the Mendos. Fri July 3 - Sat July 4 look again to ramp up heating with even stronger conditions (!) but of course that is 10 days out, so I'll track as we get closer. If it does manifest, it could be spectacular. Weed, CA record high on July 3 is 99F, but the forecast for Fri July 3 is 104-6F, so with the moisture, I'll throw out wild speculation that we could see 16K bases in the Trinity area, with of course correspondingly higher bases down towards our "local" area. You locals who didn't go off to Nephi, King Mt., Truckee or other such places, well, it looks like the home game is getting interesting....
