    Recent flight captured on micro-camera

I am guessing that many of you would want to see this for a variety of reasons.

    This video is.....

    - part of the flight debrief from this past Saturday, April 16...
it clearly shows what a great day it was over Crazy Creek and Pope Valley.

    - a follow up demo of the use of the micro camera I have mentioned before.
I now have a mount that is hands free and is flexible.

    - an example of the flying that Jim and I do together.
Don't ever fly formation on another glider without prebriefing all aspects, and lots of agreements before hand.

    - a demo of how easy it is to make a video these days.
I was impressed with the simplicity of the Windows Movie Maker program that came with windows 7.

See the link to this six minute video here....

    Peter,
I am amazed at how nice the videos came out. Not bad editing either. What software did you use to edit your video - I am still trying out a couple programs to see what to spend money on.

I was as much impressed with the audio as well.

Didn't spend any money on progarms.
I just used what came with windows 7.
that is, 'windows live movie maker'
I saved the project as the default - '.wlmp' type file
wh/ I guess stands for '.windows live movie project'

When I was done with the editing i clicked on 'publish movie'
and selected 'you tube' in the next sub-menu.

then I waited 30 or 40 minutes for my slow speed dsl to upload it on to 'you tube'.

    there you have it.

I'd love to test the applicability of the GoPro and the Contour HD in that same environment. I sure want to upgrade.

This next Saturday I should have more opportunity for another short video.

All three amigos will be in the air, so I should have either Jim of Key to use as a subject for the filiming - after we complete the race task.

any chance I could borrow a camera on saturday from either Larry-YE or Guy-DDS?

The only mounting I need is a piece of velcro (hook side) on the base of the camera. I have the loop side of the velcro mounted to my goose neck camera mount. I have extra velcro I can use, if that is ok.

Wow, great shooting! An aeronautical cinematographic auteur, not less. I want to see how your camera is mounted. See you all saturday.

    Peter,

Nice work on the video. The GoPro is a great camera and I love most of what I get out of it. It is not good for air-to-air shots though. It is too wide angle and even at the close range that you're working I think you'd be disappointed with the results. The subject glider just looks like a gnat at anything more than about 100yds.

I don't know about the Contour. I think it is not quite so wide angle.

That said, I highly recommend the GoPro for all sorts of panoramic, cloud and scenery shots.
