Williams Soaring Association

The Williams Soaring Association is a division of Williams Soaring Center, which offers its members access to a fleet of sailplanes at rates far lower than the hourly rentals by spreading the fixed operating costs over the membership.

It is WSC’s intention to add aircraft as the membership grows, with a minimum of 5 members to 1 aircraft ratio and a maximum of 10 members to 1 aircraft.

Levels of membership

There are 3 levels of membership, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Bronze Membership:

  • This level offers 2 hour block scheduling privileges to members in good standing.
  • The member can schedule any glider in the fleet up to 3 days in advance for a 2 hour block.
  • A member may only have his or her name on the schedule no more than 2 times anytime.
  • The 2-hour block may be extended, provided that there is no one else waiting to fly it.
  • The cost of a Bronze membership is $1,000 and $150 per month fee.
  • There are no additional charges for the use of the gliders.  The member must pay for the tows and any required instruction time for checkouts or recurrence training.

Silver Membership

  • This level offers 2 hour block scheduling privileges to members in good standing.
  • The member can schedule any glider in the fleet up to 3 days in advance for a 2 hour block.
  • A member may only have his or her name on the schedule no more than 2 times anytime.
  • The 2-hour block may be extended, provided that there is no one else waiting to fly it.
  • The cost of a Silver membership is $3000.00 and $100.00 per month fee.
  • There are no additional charges for the use of the gliders.  The member must pay for the tows and any required instruction time for checkouts or recurrence training.

Gold Membership

  • This membership level offers members the ability to schedule any glider in the fleet for all day, a week or more in advance.
  • A Gold member also has the privilege of scheduling to take the glider to other site camps, contests or other events, with the approval of the manager.
  • The cost of a Gold membership is $5,000.00 and $100.00 per month fee.
  • There are no additional charges for the use of the gliders.  The member must pay for the tows and any required instruction time for checkouts or recurrence training.

Terms and Conditions

  • Only persons holding at least a private pilot certificate with a glider rating are eligible for membership.
  • The gliders are to be operated in accordance with Part 91 of the FARs.  Any member observed operating a fleet glider in violation of any FAR may have his or her membership terminated by the advisory board.
  • An advisory board of 5 members will be appointed by the manager in the first year of operation.  The term of an advisory board member shall be 2 years.  After the first term a new board will be nominated and elected to office by the membership.
  • The purpose of the advisory board will be to advise the manager of the member’s wishes, including but not limited to, basing of aircraft, upgrading of equipment and operating policies and to act as a peer review board to decide discipline actions.
  • All members must carry renter pilot insurance with $60,000 hull coverage or self insure.
  • WSC reserves the right to refuse membership in this program.
